The thing that bothers me about this whole thing is that the mandate was in the bill when it was passed. Granted, it was 3000+ pages, but one would think to have read the damn thing.
It troubles me that both politicians and the People are only reacting to this now, when it’s about to get executed, and not when it was passed. I guess it’s easier to get mad at something that is about to happen verse something that’s two years out.
This might be the sexist pig in me, but if birth control becomes a right for all women that all have to pay for, does that mean that sex becomes a right for all men somewhere down the line?
From United States vs Lee (1982):
“When followers of a particular sect enter into commercial activity as a matter of choice, the limits they accept on their own conduct as a matter of conscience and faith are not to be superimposed on the statutory schemes that are binding on others in that activity.”
You can look it up and read it yourself, but my put would be that employment and purchasing insurance for your employees are two separate commercial activities and in this instance the commercial activity of providing insurance to employees, that choice, is not of their own, the govt is mandating that they provide insurance to their employees…therefore my put would be this needs further review by the Supreme Court. I’m not really up on the “Commerce Clause” of the Constitution but I think it’s most assuredly worth looking into….

Didn’t Nancy P say “we have to vote on it to see what’s in it”?

I can’t get over how this display of government coercion has been flipped into “the GOP want’s to control your womb.” What?

I’m disappointed. I thought my earlier comment would open up a nice barrel of worms or something.
If that statement doesn’t….then I’m hoping this statement does…. ahem… “BOOBS!”
Thank you
