We can argue about what BObo should have done or what he failed to do over the past 50+ days on this issue and we’ll never really come to a conclusion or an agreement, that’s a fact. As this cartoon points out, in his dire wish to get a hold of the narrative on this issue, he is failing. He is however going to try to grab the narrative of pushing for an energy plan for America. However, if over the next 2+ years of his presidency he fails to grab the initiative and do something positive (a logical and workable energy plan) then he (and to a lesser extent congress) will have failed miserably. We need oil for the short term, beyond that, there are many other smaller answers that may provide the solution.
We dont need the president or washington to make us any fucking “energy plan.” This is supposed to be a free society, not a state-managed corporatist economy.
Not only can the government never do any good by intervening in the economy, but in this country it is actually ILLEGAL for it to do so (not expressly enumerated in the constitution).
When has the fact of it being illegal, ever stopped any administration of doing what they want?
Lawmakers have always seemed to think that the laws they create don’t actually apply to them. The latest big example is lawmakers specifically excluding themselves from Obamacare.
Most of the time they simply ignore them, but now they are simply writing their own exclusions into the law.
Biff, I’m not saying that I disagree with you in principle, the free market should not take a back seat, however, I’m saying that if govt decides to spend our money on the future procurement of energy (which they’re going to do whether you or I like it or not) I’d rather it be something stable and that we can produce ourselves. Whether that be nuclear, wind, solar or a combo of the three, but again if a plan is not managed then the number one customer of energy in America (the government itself (mostly the military)) will be the only customer allowed when oil starts to dry up….and if the govt takes an even higher priority in buying up most of those energy sources then we citizens are gonna be really screwed. And that will have a negative impact on our economy…just saying…
“Going Green” started out as something that I could believe might be helpful, but now, it always seems to require higher costs to consumers, and a corresponding high cost to the environment itself.
One example is Compact Flourescent Lightbulbs (CFLs)
Supposedly are much more energy efficient and last longer, however they cost 5 to 10 times more, do not actually give any more light, and are actually quite harmful to the environment when thrown away.
Just to clarify a bit, there are three kinds of people who listen to a “preacher”, to continue using Anon’s metaphor. 1. Those who already are of the same opinion as the “preacher”. 2. Those who have not as yet made up their minds. and 3. Those who already have made up their minds that the “preacher” is wrong and derive great satisfaction from attempting to shout down the “preacher”.
Anybody who is trying to make a point, is really only talking to those in group #2. All one needs to do is to present ones point of view and allow those who listen to make up their own minds. You Anon, are in group number 3. Groups 1 and 3 are pretty much peripheral to a “preacher’s” message, although I imagine that group #1 is made up of folks who are much more pleasent to be around.
Now now, Mr. Racist. Please be careful of where you are waving your stereotypigraphical brush. We wouldn’t want you to portray yourself as a bigot now would we? Oh wait…too late.
You call me a Monkey and I’m Mr. Racist? Was Strom Thurmond a civil rights hero in your world?
Hell, I never even mentioned racism. Why are you so obsessed with race? I’m betting it’s the same way Pastors/Republicans who are obsessed with oppressing Homosexuals turn out to be them. You conservatives are closet everythings! You guys laughing stock of the world.
By the way. Isn’t it about time for you to go pickup you white hood from the dry cleaners?
In case you haven’t noticed, we are conversing on multiple topics on this website at one time, and yes, you have said plenty about racism. I have also already explained the monkey comment, so I will assume you posted this before reading that bit.
If you would like anything of mine on a shirt click on the SHIRTS link below. It will take you to Image Directly's site and they will be able to produce whatever you want. I should have my store up and working sometime this decade.
They use a state-of-the-art direct to garment ink jet printer that produces bright colors and sharp lines. It washes extremely well and will not crack. It's good stuff.
Thanks.

Really, you delete a comment about Green Jobs? Good going on the censorship here guys.
I haven’t deleted a comment since I deleted one of yours a week or so ago.

I would talk but, why bother. Just be deleted again. One view point is all you need I guess. Have fun preaching to the choir.
At least the choir appreciates the preacher.
Wow, Shawn… Just wow.

Looks like the messiah is getting ready to start his own war!! I wonder how the hippy libs are gonna react this time?
Duh! — They’ll blame it on Bush! (Like they always find a way to do)
“The more you keep digging, the deeper it gets.”
Heh, Maybe I’l strike oil! Now wouldn’t that be neat!
When you’ve done so much wrong, you’re going to get a lot of blame. Unrelated topic though.

>The Messiah
Oh, lol. I love it when you conservatives are walking stereotypes.

And, you are a bigot.
Parmecium.
^ me. Comp reset my name again. /sigh
And I explained how you’re an idiot. An idiot who flaunts the fact he has very little to no education.
Speaking of a lack of education, the word “idiot” does not refer to education but to a “lack of understanding”.
Heh, I guess that means you are an idiot.
Parmecium.
You don’t seem to understand the evolutionary processes. Nope, idiot works perfectly for you.
Maybe I’m just more highly evolved than you are. /grin
Yes, flaunt your ignorance. The intellectual equivalent of your statement is akin to eating soap for nutrition. Well done. Everyone point and laugh.
I think you’ve angered the anonotard…step back he might troll endlessly…oh wait…
Hmm, who’s raging now…?
/grin
I think the only thing I’d rage at in this thread are people who use emotes in speech. /flatulate
